"The No. 1 Residential Golf
Course in America"
The awards have been cascading down on Cuscowilla
since the highly acclaimed, Coore/Crenshaw-designed golf course first
opened in 2001. (You can see the awards listed at the top of this
page.)

Lake views and lush fairways add up to a memorable round.
One of the most satisfying yet arrived recently from
Golfweek
Magazine, which ranked Cuscowilla the No. 1 Residential Golf Course in
the U.S. for 2005. An "extremely proud and humbling" award, says community executives,
who note the many thousands of courses in the United States that are
part of a master-planned community.

Another reason for being No. 1, picture-perfect greens.
However, while there are thousands of golf
communities to consider, only one can be ranked No. 1. And the reason
is the lush, Cuscowilla golf course, which winds through rolling
meadows, forests of pine and along the shoreline of Lake Oconee, evoking comparisons to the great designs of Alister
Mackenzie and Donald Ross, while serving as the centerpiece for the 700-acre
resort/residential community of Cuscowilla.

The award-winning Waterside Restaurant.
Surrounded by Top Courses
The Lake Oconee area has long been considered a
golfer's paradise, featuring four award-winning championship courses.
Wide water and a gentle green landscape have inspired some of golf's
legendary designers to create masterpieces around Lake Oconee.
Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, Hubert Green and Bob Cupp, and
Fuzzy Zoeller have all had a hand in developing the Lake Oconee area
into one of the world's
most scenic concentrations of top-level golf.

Lakefront villa.
To this lofty company, Cuscowilla adds the
considerable talents of the award-winning team of two-time Masters
Champion Ben Crenshaw and architect Bill Coore. Together they have
fashioned a layout that has proved to be one of their finest efforts,
the
Golf Club at Cuscowilla.
The course winds through rolling meadows and
valleys of pines, playing across several interior ponds. The most
celebrated holes, however, are almost certainly those that start
the second nine. They play besides--and carry--the lake, across an
inlet that borders the site of the Club Cottages and Lake Club.

View from the Golf House.
While designing to capture the attention of the
pros, the course also manages to reward less skilled players. Most
landing areas are generous and both the scratch golfer and high
handicappers can reap enormous pleasure from playing the course.
There's plenty to do at Cuscowilla in addition to
golf. Lake Oconee is a source of endless pleasures such as fishing and
boating, you can play
tennis and dine at the award-winning Waterside Restaurant. You may
also enjoy the 1999 Southern Living Idea House as your corporate or
family retreat.
