Jefferson Landing’s New River Course opened May 1991. An 18-hole championship course, it was designed by two-time PGA champion and U.S. Open Championship winner Larry Nelson. The New River provides various activities and great vistas.Stretching out over more than 170 acres of open, gently rolling hills (and because of the lie of the course), it is considered by residents and guests alike to be one of the most playable, yet challenging, mountain courses in North Carolina. By virtue of its sheltered location, it is also open longer than any other mountain golf course—April through the end of October.

The greens and tees are seeded with Pencross Bent, with Bluegrass on the fairways. Thanks to daily hand-mowing, you’ll be hard pressed to find a mountain golf course with faster greens. Add in its seven ponds and direct access to water on 15 holes and you’ll agree that the New River Course will provide an arresting challenge for golfers of any skill level.
