This sprawling, secluded sea island sets lofty standards with
its Auberge Resorts Inn and Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.
Description
For more than a century, "The Bluff" has
been known to a privileged few as one of the wildest and most
beautiful places in the Carolina Lowcountry--an area recognized
as one of the most picturesque in the world. Set carefully in
this pristine environment, Palmetto Bluff has been planned as a
recreational preserve unlike any that have gone before it.

May River.
A vast, 20,000-acre retreat between Hilton
Head Island and Savannah, Georgia, Palmetto Bluff is surrounded
by three historic rivers and master-planned for
ultra-low-density living. In just a few years the property has
become a distinguished residential town and a coveted visitor
destination.

Miles of uninterrupted waterways, scenic
rivers and creeks surround Palmetto Bluff, ideal for boating and
sport fishing. The Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course at the
community’s May River Golf Club is artfully laid out on
oak-studded natural terrain.

Activity Centers
Palmetto Bluff’s activity centers—the Village, the
neighborhoods, the Inn, the golf club, the canoe and kayak
club—will all be linked through a series of historic roads,
pathways and waterways. This intricate trail system will allow
residents to reach their destinations by bicycle, foot, boat,
horseback, golf cart or automobile.

The Sports Campus, located in the Village,
includes such amenities as tennis courts (some lighted),
croquet, bocce and other lawn sports.
The Inn at Palmetto Bluff, in the center of
the Village, is operated by internationally renowned Auberge
Resorts. Responsible for such acclaimed properties as Calistoga
Ranch in Napa Valley, and Esperanza in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico,
Auberge is considered among the finest operators of small hotels
in the world.

The Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.
The initial phase of Wilson’s Landing,
scheduled for completion in 2006, will provide power boat
storage for boats up to 35 feet, a ship's store and a
harbormaster building from which boats will be launched. A
subsequent phase will include storage of canoes and kayaks along
with a member swimming pool and fitness center.

The course was named to
Golfweek's "America's Top 100
Modern Courses” list.
In the waters around Palmetto Bluff are
large numbers of bottle-nosed dolphin, plus such sportfish as
Tarpon, Red Drum, Flounder and Spotted Sea Trout. These same
tidal rivers contain healthy populations of blue crabs and
shrimp, and even the occasional manatee is sighted.
