The
Settings of Mackay Point
Yemassee, South
Carolina

Convenient seclusion in a coastal region full of history and
lore is the
theme at this waterfront community between Charleston and Savannah.
Description
The Settings of
Mackay Point is a 327-acre community devoted to outdoor
pursuits amid dramatic Lowcountry landscapes and waterways.
With nearly 40 percent of its property set aside as permanent green space, Mackay Point homesites are positioned to take
optimum advantage of the surrounding views.

Boaters enjoy access to the Intracoastal Waterway
via the Pocotaglio River.
Less than two miles east of Interstate 95, only 45 minutes
from Hilton Head, 30 minutes from Savannah and one hour from
Charleston, The Settings at Mackay Point is connected by the
lovely Pocotaglio River to the Intracoastal Waterway.
Varied Waterview Home Locations
Admirers of the moss-draped oaks and long, marshy horizons
that characterize this region will find a spectrum of
homesites to choose from at The Settings. Some abut the river,
some overlook lakes and marshes and a few are tucked deep
within this enchanting landscape.

Homesite views include river,
lakes and marshes.
Developers of the community have received full approval for a
riverfront plan calling for construction of private docks,
some of which will be common to the community. From these
docks residents will soon be plying the Intracoasal Waterway
toward the blue Atlantic.
Small in size, the Pocotaglio River is historically important
and environmentally prized. It threads its way through miles
of silent swamps that are home to diverse wildlife and appear
virtually unchanged since the 16th century.

Sunset along the Pocotaligo River.
The Pocotaligo and its sister waterway, the Tulifinny River,
are filled with trout, redfish, flounder, and other fin fish
species. As a resident of The Settings of Mackay Point, you
can also take advantage of high-quality shrimping and crabbing
right on the community dock.
Proposed amenities at The Settings include more than 20 acres
of lakes, a gated entrance with greeter’s cottage, an outdoor
waterside pavilion, a crabbing and fishing dock, tennis
courts, nature trails, neighborhood parks with low country
views, boat storage facilities and a clubhouse with a pool and
a fitness center.

About the Area
Just 30 minutes away from the
Settings is the historic town of Beaufort which features period architecture, preserved homes, small museums and
important historic sites of the Southeast. From sandy beaches to
Arts in the Park, Beaufort offers a wide range of sightseeing
options for visitors of all ages.
Hilton Head Island is just 45 minutes away.
To the north about one hour is Charleston, one of the
best-preserved cities in the Southeast. To the south some 30
miles away are Savannah’s magnolia-lined streets, old world
charm, historic structures and oft-told ghost stories.
Also to the south is Daufuskie Island
which traces its recorded history back
to pre-Revolutionary War times. From the end of the Civil War
until very recently, it was home to a sizeable population of
Gullah inhabitants, descendents of freed slaves. Pat Conroy's
1972 novel The Water is Wide was set on Daufuskie, fictionalized
there as "Yamacraw Island."
